Finca El Pergamino Geisha Washed 125g is the smallest way into one of the most talked-about coffees in Panama. At Best of Panama 2026, this washed Geisha from producer Yaneth de Lucich took 2nd place in the Geisha Washed category with 96.00 points — a quarter of a point behind the winner, and ahead of the legendary Hacienda La Esmeralda. Then the world's best baristas confirmed it: at the 2026 World Barista Championship, both the champion, Pan Wei of China, and the runner-up, Shing Win of Malaysia, competed with Finca El Pergamino Geisha Washed. This 125g bag, in El Pergamino's own packaging, is the perfect first taste or gift.

Best of Panama 2026 — 2nd Place, Geisha Washed (96.00 points). A quarter of a point from first in the tightest Geisha Washed final in years — finishing ahead of Hacienda La Esmeralda.

2026 World Barista Championship — the coffee of the champion and the runner-up. Pan Wei of China won the 2026 World Barista Championship competing with Finca El Pergamino Geisha Washed, and Shing Win of Malaysia took second place with it. This bag is the same coffee from the same farm and harvest, not the competition lot itself.

Packed by the Farm in Bambito, Tierras Altas

This 125g edition comes in El Pergamino's own matte black bag with a one-way valve and resealable zipper, labeled by the farm: Washed Geisha, Bambito, Tierras Altas, medium roast. Finca El Pergamino sits high in the Tierras Altas district of Chiriquí, in the cool, misty highlands between Volcán and Cerro Punta, at roughly 1,800 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The farm is owned and worked by Yaneth de Lucich and her family on rich volcanic soil surrounded by dense forest, where the slow cherry maturation concentrates the sugars and aromatics that give Geisha its signature elegance.

A Washed Geisha of Striking Clarity

In the washed process, the cherry's fruit and mucilage are removed before drying, so nothing stands between you and the pure character of the bean. The result is a transparent, elegant cup that showcases El Pergamino's floral aromatics and delicate acidity — the classic, tea-like side of Geisha that judges rewarded with 96.00 points. The medium roast keeps the florals lifted while adding gentle caramel sweetness.

Tasting Notes

Expect jasmine and white florals on the nose, bergamot and bright fruit in the cup, caramel-like sweetness, a silky tea-like body, and a long, clean, floral finish. Refined, aromatic, and unmistakably Panama Geisha.

The Coffee Behind the 2026 World Barista Champion

The World Barista Championship is the sport's biggest stage: national champions from more than fifty countries, each serving one coffee to a panel of sensory judges. In 2026 the two baristas who finished first and second, Pan Wei of China and Shing Win of Malaysia, both chose Finca El Pergamino Geisha Washed. When the two best baristas in the world independently pick the same coffee from the same small farm in Tierras Altas, it says more about the cup than any score. What you brew at home is the same coffee from the same farm and harvest; the competitors worked with their own selected lots.

How to Brew El Pergamino Geisha Washed

Brew it black as pour-over. Use filtered water at 200°F (93°C), a medium-fine grind, and a 1:16 ratio (e.g., 15g coffee to 240g water) in a V60 or Chemex. A 125g bag gives you about eight pour-overs — grind fresh immediately before each one. New to Geisha? Follow our complete guide to brewing Panama Geisha at home.

Was this coffee used at the World Barista Championship?
Yes. At the 2026 World Barista Championship, the champion, Pan Wei of China, and the runner-up, Shing Win of Malaysia, both competed with Finca El Pergamino Geisha Washed. This bag is the same coffee from the same farm, though not the competitors' specific lot.

What is the difference between the 125g and 250g bags?
Same coffee, same farm, same harvest. The 125g comes in El Pergamino's own branded bag and is ideal as a first taste or a gift; the 250g is the better value if you already know you love it.

How should I brew it?
