Finca El Pergamino Geisha Washed is the coffee that nearly toppled a dynasty. At Best of Panama 2026, this washed Geisha from producer Yaneth de Lucich took 2nd place in the Geisha Washed category with 96.00 points — a quarter of a point behind the winner, and ahead of the legendary Hacienda La Esmeralda. It was the tightest Geisha Washed finish in years, and it announced Finca El Pergamino as one of the most exciting new names in Panamanian specialty coffee. This 250g lot lets you taste why.
Best of Panama 2026 — 2nd Place, Geisha Washed (96.00 points). A quarter of a point from first in the tightest Geisha Washed final in years — finishing ahead of Hacienda La Esmeralda.
The Rising Star of Panama's Tierras Altas
Finca El Pergamino sits high in the Tierras Altas district of Chiriquí, in the cool, misty highlands between Volcán and Cerro Punta, at roughly 1,800 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The farm is owned and worked by Yaneth de Lucich and her family, on rich volcanic soil surrounded by dense forest. The high-altitude microclimate slows cherry maturation dramatically, concentrating the sugars and aromatic compounds that give Geisha its signature elegance.
Unlike the century-old estates it now competes with, El Pergamino is a newer farm — a family operation that stepped onto the Best of Panama podium ahead of some of the most decorated producers on Earth. In specialty coffee, that almost never happens. When it does, it is worth tasting.
A Washed Geisha of Striking Clarity
In the washed process, the cherry's fruit and mucilage are removed before drying, so nothing stands between you and the pure character of the bean. The result is a transparent, elegant cup that showcases El Pergamino's floral aromatics and delicate acidity with striking clarity — the classic, tea-like side of Geisha that judges rewarded with 96.00 points.
Tasting Notes
Expect lifted white florals and jasmine on the nose, followed by bergamot and bright citrus, stone fruit sweetness in the cup, a silky tea-like body, and a long, clean, floral finish. Refined, aromatic, and unmistakably Panama Geisha.

Yaneth de Lucich and Finca El Pergamino
Best of Panama is dominated by famous family dynasties with generations of titles. Yaneth de Lucich is writing a different story: a producer from the quieter side of the Barú volcano whose lots have been quietly stunning cuppers for the past few seasons — and who, in 2026, stood on the national podium between Lamastus Family Estates and Hacienda La Esmeralda. Judges cup blind, without knowing the farm or the producer. The score is the coffee, and nothing else.
How to Brew El Pergamino Geisha Washed
To honor a coffee this rare, brew it black as pour-over. Use filtered water at 200°F (93°C), a medium-fine grind, and a 1:16 ratio (e.g., 15g coffee to 240g water) in a V60 or Chemex. Skip milk — the floral, tea-like clarity is the whole point. Grind fresh immediately before brewing. New to Geisha? Follow our complete guide to brewing Panama Geisha at home.
