Janson Family Coffee — Three Generations in Volcán, Panama

Janson Family Coffee is a three-generation farm and roastery in Volcán, Chiriquí — one of Panama's most celebrated coffee-growing regions. The story began in 1926 when Carl Axel Janson left Sweden at twenty-one years old and fell in love with the land and the eternal spring weather of Volcán. Today, the farm is led by Kai, Janette, and Miguel Janson, who continue to grow, process, and roast all their specialty coffee on-site at altitudes between 1,350 and 1,700 meters on the slopes of the Tisingal and Barú volcanoes.

Award-Winning, Sustainable Coffee

A consistent name in the Best of Panama competition, Janson grows Green Tip Geisha, Arabica, and other varietals — all handpicked and micro-roasted in limited quantities. Sustainability runs deep: the farms use enzymatic microorganisms instead of pesticides, over 400 solar panels power their operations, and all processing byproducts are reused as fuel or organic fertilizer. Forest corridors separate the plantations, protecting native flora and fauna.
