The Cleanest, Most Refined Catuai From a World-Class Estate

Lamastus Family Estates Catuai Washed is the cleanest, most refined expression of this world-class estate's Catuai varietal. Grown at 1,700–1,950 meters on Elida Estate — the highest coffee farm in Panama — this fully washed Catuai delivers a crisp, transparent cup that lets the terroir speak for itself.

The Washed Process

The outer skin and all fruit pulp are completely removed before the beans are sun-dried on patios. This strips away the fruity intensity of natural and honey processes, revealing the bean's true character: clean chocolate and toasted almond notes, bright citrus acidity, and a smooth, medium body with a refined finish.

About Lamastus Family Estates

The Lamastus family has been producing specialty coffee in Boquete since 1918, now in its fourth generation under Wilford Lamastus Sr. and Wilford Jr. Their estates — Elida, El Burro, and Luito Geisha — occupy ultra-high elevations in the Alto Quiel region, with Elida sitting partially within Volcán Barú National Park. The family has set multiple world records at the Best of Panama competition.

Elida Estate Terroir

At nearly 2,000 meters, cool temperatures, persistent fog, and cloud forest canopy slow cherry maturation to a crawl, producing denser beans with concentrated sugars and layered complexity. More than half of the 65-hectare estate is dedicated to virgin rainforest conservation.

Brewing Tips

A washed Catuai this clean deserves a method that highlights its clarity. A Hario V60 or Kalita Wave pour-over will bring out every nuance. For espresso, dial in a slightly finer grind. Grind fresh with a Baratza burr grinder.

Pair It

The chocolate and almond notes pair beautifully with Bocao Almond & Sea Salt chocolate or an I Love Panama Chocolate bar.
