The Blend
Café Unido La Harpia is named after the Harpy Eagle — Panama's national bird and the strongest eagle in the world. This blend is designed to be equally powerful: firm, smooth, and vibrant in every cup. Built from a 50/50 split of washed Caturra and natural Catuai beans sourced from top farms in the Chiriquí highlands, including Eleta Estate in Volcán and Graciano Cruz in Boquete. The washed component delivers clean structure and brightness, while the natural adds body, sweetness, and fruit complexity.
Flavor Profile
Rich dark chocolate and toffee up front, a smooth walnut mid-palate, and a sweet cherry finish that lingers. Designed to shine as straight espresso and to pair perfectly with milk for cappuccinos, flat whites, and lattes.
About Café Unido
Café Unido opened in 2014 in Panama City with a single mission: bring Panama's world-class specialty coffees to Panamanians and the world. Founded by Benito Bermúdez and chef Mario Castrellón — who also runs Maito, one of Latin America's top restaurants. Unido sources 100% of its coffee directly from over 50 farms across Boquete and Volcán. Read the full Café Unido story. Unido now operates 9 locations across Panama City and has expanded to Washington, DC. The brand also runs the Café Unido Foundation, supporting coffee harvesters and their families.
Brewing Tips for Espresso
For the best espresso at home, start with a quality burr grinder dialed to fine. La Harpia performs beautifully on a De'Longhi espresso machine, but it's equally rewarding on an AeroPress or Bialetti Moka pot.
Pair It
La Harpia's dark chocolate and toffee notes pair beautifully with Bocao dark chocolate or an I Love Panama Chocolate bar.
