The Caturra Variety — Underrated and Outstanding
Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee plant — a compact, sun-tolerant Arabica variety that has been cultivated in the highlands of Panama for decades. In the hands of lesser farms it can be neutral and unremarkable. But in the hands of Don Pepe Estate — grown at 1,600 to 2,000 meters above sea level in rich volcanic soil, with cool mountain temperatures averaging 21°C and the famous Bajareque mist of Boquete — it becomes something quietly extraordinary.
